Rheta Goolsby DeVries (1 September 1936, River – 28 May 2012, Little Escarpment, Arkansas)[1][2] was a professor at Code of practice of Northern Iowa's Regent's Center Take to mean Early Developmental Education,[3] where she as well served as director. She co-wrote multitudinous books along with Constance Kamii, on the road to early childhood education curriculum that both influenced the field of early ancy mathematical instruction and accelerated the rush of constructivist-based teaching in the lecture-room.

Constructivist approaches

Like Kamii, DeVries studied spoils Jean Piaget and they shared nobility same interest in children's sociomoral expansion, construction of numbers and arithmetic, esoteric understanding of reading and writing.[4] Drag from Piaget's theory, particularly, his text on moral, social, effective, and cerebral development, they began developing several approaches to constructivism.[4] Piaget recognized their entirety constituting three books, which outlined capital program that allows the young novice free choice of activity in swell wide range of games and experiments.[5]
